Patrons and Ambassadors

HRH the princess royal

Spinal Injuries Scotland Honorary patron, HRH The Princess Royal, has been a great source of support and encouragement over the years supporting the charity in many different ways.

The Princess Royal regularly attends Spinal Injuries Scotland events and opened Clober Farm back in 2012.

Paul Warwick

Paul C. Warwick is an oil industry advisor and non-executive director. At Talisman Energy Inc. he was an Executive Vice President and prior to that during a thirty one year career at ConocoPhillips a global regional president.

He has a master of science degree from Cranfield Institute of Technology, he is a chartered engineer and a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects, a Fellow of the Welding Institute and a Fellow of the Energy Institute.

He has held several industry body appointments in Trinidad, Indonesia and the UK, including being chair of Oil and Gas UK, a member of the Scottish First Minister’s Energy Advisory Group and the first chair of the UK oil and gas industry Technology Leadership Board.

Harry and Tracey Brown
patrons

Harry & Tracey Brown are Patrons of Spinal Injuries Scotland.

Steven Mcghee
Ambassador

Since a swimming pool accident in 2007 I have been paralysed from the neck down and can't breathe on my own so need a ventilator 24hrs a day.

I am lucky to still enjoy a great life. I keep busy with my friends whether we are out for drinks or catching up in the house. I love my football and am a season-ticket holder (not revealing where!). I am also half way through studying for a degree in psychology with the Open University. Other than that, I spend my time doing anything that makes me happy.

Linda Bamford
Ambassador

Linda’s career background is mainly in NHS Scotland, initially as a psychiatric and general nurse before moving into Para medicine with the Scottish Ambulance Service.  After 13 years as a frontline paramedic in Glasgow Linda moved into management holding various senior management positions within the ambulance service. Her NHS career spanned over 30 years.

Dr Elizabeth Ferris
Ambassador

A Junior Doctor at Ninewells Hospital Dundee. Elizabeth sustained a Spinal Cord Injury whilst at medical school, due to Vasculitis. The condition has also caused blindness in her left eye. After a three year break she returned to studies part-time, and graduated in 2017. Elizabeth is keen to forge a career in Rehabilitation Medicine.

Founder of Dundee Dragons Wheelchair Sports Club, a charity offering active wheelchair sporting opportunities to people from all across Tayside. Elizabeth is also an avid Rugby fan, and was capped for Scotland at the Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup in 2013 (despite my Northern Irish heritage, she am proud to call Scotland my home!)

Elizabeth is a proud ambassador for Spinal Injuries Scotland; the charity provides such a wealth of support and information she feels it’s a privilege to be able to give back in any way possible.

Joanna Martin
Ambassador

Joanna worked as a nurse prior to her spinal injury that was sustained during training with the RauxAF in 2005. Joanna has represented GB at the Invictus Games in Orlando in 2016, and she has competed in hand cycling and indoor rowing and won silver medal for indoor rowing. Joann was a Trustee with Spinal Injuries Scotland for 5 years and now continues her support of the Charity as an Ambassador.
