Curling Experience Day (Part Two)

Ice Ice Baby…

A fantastic curling day was held at Dumfries Ice Bowl on Friday the 8th of December 2023.

As members from Dumfries Coffee Meet up Group took to the Ice (joined by a couple of hardy members from the Borders) for another day to learn more and participate in “The Roaring game” of wheelchair curling.

Once again we benefited from the coaching skills of Aileen Neilson and Michael McCreadie both former paralympians who put us through our paces.

We all enjoyed a soup and sandwich lunch together after our first session on ice and our second session on ice we played a game against each other putting into practice the skills we had been taught in our first session.

After the game upstairs to the curling lounge we went for hot drinks, scones, thank yous, and presentations.

Trophies were given out to Best Newcomer - Marion Romeril, Most Improved Players - Darren Mundell and Roberta Blackstock, Fastest Curler - Steve Laycock.

Many thanks to Graham Sloan and all the ice and catering staff at Dumfries Bowl and Lottery Community fund for making this day the success it was.
