DUNDEE KILTWALK 2023

20th August 2023

We had an absolute blast at this year's Dundee Kiltwalk.

Firstly, we’d like to say a massive thank you to the following for undertaking this monumental challenge in aid of Spinal Injuries Scotland!

Hannah Leggate - Lisa Kane - Jacqui Garvin - Ian Rosie - Michelle Anna Moffatt - Fiona Fraser - Maureen Morrison
And also to Kath Garvin and Nicola Dalziel that unfortunately had to pull out but still contributed to an amazing £2322 raised on the day.

Hannah and Lisa sent us these great photos to illustrate the fantastic time and varied scenery they had on their epic 20 mile hike.
Everyone has their own reasons for taking on the walk, here's Hannah's

"I'm doing this for my dad. A year ago he was a martial arts teacher and wannabe Bob the builder. Always running about with the dog never more than a foot behind him. This all changed when a spinal injury left him paralysed from the chest down.

His determination and drive have been incredible and despite the dire prognosis he's already achieved more than some thought was possible. We couldn't be more proud of him and are looking forward to the future, although we know that we will require support.

Spinal Injuries Scotland work hard to ensure people with spinal injuries can still socialise with their friends and take part in the activities they love. The adjustment to daily life with a spinal injury is a huge undertaking and having someone with real life experience is invaluable."

We were also lucky to have a strong contingent of SIS staff and volunteers take on the Wee Wander

‘This is my second year of taking part in the kiltwalk and wouldn’t miss it for the world. Its more about the people you meet and the laughs to be had. I’m comparing myself to the last year and see the change and also in others. They are more confident, and they are happier in lots of different ways. You all inspire me everyday and I’m sure my wee dog loves it too!
