Main Job Purpose: 

You will be required to attend The Queen Elizabeth National Spinal Cord Injuries Unit, Glasgow.  Working alongside our Peer Support Team and the NHS, you will be the first representative for Spinal Injuries Scotland, introducing patients to our free membership. You will be building relationships, signing up members and informing them of the charity’s benefits. By using a tablet or Device, you would also be required to support patients to connect with their loved ones.  

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Build strong and supportive relationships with the patients, NHS staff and other charities within the National Spinal Injuries Unit.

• Give an overview of the charity and the services and benefits we provide to patients.

• Encourage membership of Spinal Injuries Scotland.

• Maintain confidential membership records. 

• Identify charity services that the patient could benefit from.

• Follow up with previous interactions.

• Evaluate patient interaction with the charity at the National Spinal Injuries Unit.

• Liaise with Spinal Injuries Scotland Peer Support Co-ordinator and volunteers to provide a service tailored to each patient’s individual needs.

• Support the Operations Manager as required.

• Must be a confident individual.

• Self-motivated and happy to work on their own.

• Be respectful of NHS staff and patients’ privacy and space at all times.

• Be non-judgemental and able to respect individuals’ disability, cultural, religious and ethnic backgrounds.

• Be outgoing, friendly, approachable and sensitive.

• Be able to use Microsoft office word and excel.

• This post requires Protection of Vulnerable Group (PVG) Membership in relation to working with vulnerable adults.

• Applicants must have their own transport.
